SoftwareONE’s chief marketing officer, Lawrence Schwartz, was recently published in ITProPortal for his take on cloud spend – or rather cloud overspending. The article, “Cloud Overspending: Three Questions to Ask Before You Burst Your Budget,” was published this week and focused on three key areas that all organizations should review in terms of their cloud strategy and budget:
How do I know how much I should spend on cloud?
With recent studies showing that companies with 1,000 employees or more will spend over $10M on cloud it is essential to have a handle on your budget and know your maximum threshold.
What solutions and strategies are available to assist with cloud savings and cloud management?
In addition, over 35% of cloud usage is wasted – causing many organizations to turn to third party applications to ensure they have full visibility into their multi-cloud environment; with the goal of reducing waste and extraneous spend.
I’ve figured out that I’m overspending – a lot – on my cloud services. What do I do now?
This needs an “all hands on deck” approach to hold everyone in the company accountable for cloud initiatives in place, and the related spend. From there, one can better determine how to optimize the entire cloud environment rather than look at it piece by piece.
